July 2010

With the long 4th of July weekend behind us the crews are back refreshed and ready to tackle our next projects.

This month Jon will be building decks for two past customers, one in Bethlehem and one in Woodsville. With people not wanting to use pressure treated or composite decking he will be using Azek decking for both projects.  This decking comes in a large array of colors. This is a long lasting and very durable product.  It is stain resistant, mold and mildew resistant as well as scratch resistant.  Once completed, these decks will be enjoyed without worries for years to come.

Once Jon wraps up these projects, we are sorry to say, he will be leaving Whitney's.  While we will miss his knowledge and craftsmanship we wish him well in his new endeavor.

Lance and Rich have finished replacing a deteriorating porch roof on Main Street Lancaster with new IKO 30 year asphalt shingles.  They will be spending the next 3 plus weeks in Littleton.  For this project they will be installing CertainTeed Monogram Vinyl Siding.

If you dread the thought of having to paint your home year after year perhaps it’s time to explore vinyl siding.  Let us show you the various colors and styles available to beautify your home as well as tell you about the other advantages that vinyl siding has to offer.

June 2010

We experienced quite a bit of rain in June but our crews were able to stay on schedule even when waiting out some heavy downpours!

Rich and Lance installed IKO Cambridge Lifetime architectural asphalt shingles for a past customer in Bethlehem.  Not far from that project they re-roofed a home using IKO Cambridge 30 year asphalt shingles for a new customer.  Once these projects were completed they traveled to Franconia where a raised rib metal roof was installed on a barn and shed as well as a replacing soffits, fascia boards, drip edge, painting and re-roofing of a local business on Main St.  In Littleton they installed a standing seam metal roof which qualifies for the Federal Tax Credit.  Service calls took them to Lancaster, Woodstock, Littleton and Lincoln.

Jon had many projects this month.  He completed two vinyl window replacement projects, one in Whitefield which was quite challenging and one in Littleton where he installed the new line of Tribute windows from Harvey.  In Littleton he did some repairs to stairs and to a shed for past customers.  He assisted Chip with installing an awning in Lancaster.  In Franconia he replaced deck railings and installed a wooden screen door in Sugar Hill.

The crews are differently looking for to the upcoming long weekend for 4th of July!

May 2010

Spring has sprung in the North Country!  In fact it felt a lot like summer for a while.

Perhaps it time to think about an awning to make your home and deck area more comfortable during the dog days of summer.  Chip has just returned from visiting our new awning distributor FutureGuard.  We offer motorized or manual NuImage retractable awnings as well as stationary awnings in many colors and style.  Check out our ad in the Littleton Courier or give us a call for more info.

Jon has put the finishing touches on the dormer project in Lincoln.  Once back at the office he began meeting with Chip to discuss plans, scheduling and ordering of materials for upcoming projects in Franconia which include replacing a deck railing, installing a bulkhead and replacing a sun deck to name a few.

Another project is for repeat customers in Whitefield.  Once again Jon will be installing new vinyl insulated combination replacement windows for them in their lakefront home.  Due to the size of these windows Chip will be helping Jon with the installation.  Once finished Jon will go to Littleton where he will be installing Tribute replacement windows, a new line of Harvey windows.  These windows have triple pane insulated glass, high performance glazing and simulated wood grain interiors in a wide range of colors. These windows qualify for the Federal Tax credit and come with a lifetime warranty.

After completing the standing seam metal roof and the clapboard siding portions of the dormer job in Lincoln, Rich and Lance spent the next two weeks in Bethlehem installing IKO Cambridge asphalt shingles for a past customer as well as handling our service calls.

They will now be working in Franconia.  This project has them installing a raised rib metal roof on a barn and shed.

April 2010

With projects rolling in and our schedule filling up we have hired a new crew member.  We want to welcome Lance to Whitney's Inc.  Lance will be working with Rich installing standing seam and raised rib metal roofing, asphalt shingle roofs, rubber roofs and vinyl siding.

Chip, Jon and Rich completed the Lead Safe Certification Program in April.  Following successful completion of this 8 hour intense training Whitney's Inc. has submitted their registration with the EPA as a Lead-Safe Certified Firm and will be in compliance with the new EPA’s Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule.

The crews are currently working on a dormer project in Lincoln for a past customer. Jon & Jesse (along with some help from Lance and Rich) have completed the demolition work. The rafters, walls and plywood for the roof have been installed.  Jon is now coordinating the next phase of the project with the electrician and insulating crew.  Rich and Lance will be finishing up the standing seam metal roof this week but will be returning to install clapboard siding later in the project.

During their time away from this project they will be busy installing standing seam metal roofs in Franconia and Dalton, an asphalt shingle roof in Bethlehem vinyl replacement windows in Littleton, Whitefield and Plymouth.

Spring 2010

Spring is in the air!  It’s time to begin planning not only your garden but improvements to your home.  Are you tired of painting?  Perhaps now is the time to explore vinyl siding options. Take advantage of this nice weather and walk around your house.  Look at your roof, if you have a shingled roof are the shingles curling, are they cracked, are there any loose or missing?  Do the metal panels look old and/or rusty?  Look carefully at your vinyl siding checking for severe fading.  Check your gutters for cracks and leaks.  We would be happy to set up a time to meet with you and provide options to address your remodeling needs.

Was your home a little drafty this winter??  Not quite as comfortable as you would have liked? Chip Stowell, owner of Whitney’s Inc. is now a Certified Energy Auditor.  Give him a call to set up an appointment to perform an energy audit. He will be able to show you where you’re losing heat and wasting energy and offer suggestions to making your home more comfortable.  Whether it’s new vinyl replacement windows, insulation or a roof let us show you what we can do for you.  Many improvements of this nature qualify for the Federal Tax Credit. Ask us for details.

Chip, Jon and Rich headed to Providence, Rhode Island to attend the JLC conference.  Not only were they able to network with contractors, see new products and demos they attended classes to further their knowledge and skills to ensure that Whitney's Inc. can continue to provide quality work using the latest state of the art tools and techniques in all aspects of your project.
